Reforge Extension

Overview

People rarely get feedback to help them do better work in the moment. The feedback is usually too late, not helpful, or the person giving the feedback doesn’t have the experience to help make meaningful impact.

The Reforge Extension aims to coach you through improving your actual work, without you having to leave the work. The advice is backed by the collective knowledge of some of the most trusted experts in product, growth, and marketing.

Getting started

  1. Download the extension at reforge.com/extension.
  2. Once downloaded, you'll need to sign in to Reforge if you haven't already.
  3. Open a supported tool. We support: Notion, Jira, Confluence, or Google Docs in one of the following browsers: Chrome, Arc, Edge, Brave

Frequently asked questions

What data do you use?

To give you the best suggestions possible, the extension uses the contents of the page you’re currently viewing to customize its advice. It does not access any other information.

What data do you store?

We don’t store your or your company’s information. For example, we don’t store:

  • The contents of your documents
  • The suggestions and responses we provide to you
  • The messages you send to the extension via chat

What providers do you use to generate responses?

We use various LLM providers to power the extension. The LLM providers do not store a copy of the information we send to them and do not use your information to train models.

Is any of my data or my company’s data used to train models?

Your data is not used to train models by Reforge or our technology providers.

Why does the extension require access to all sites?

We would prefer if the extension didn’t require access to to all sites, but it is an unfortunate limitation of how Chrome extension permissions work.

It is possible to specify which URLs an extension has access to. Today, we support six tools: Google Docs, Notion, Confluence, Jira, Linear, and Coda. The problem is that when we add new tools and add a URL for that tool, Chrome would disable the extension so that users can choose whether they want to re-enable the extension. The problem is that it does it in such a way that virtually all of our users would not realize what happened. On top of that, we hope to add new tools constantly (at least once a month). Faced with a choice of asking for permission to all URLs or having our extension disabled for all users constantly, we have chosen to ask for all permissions.

While the extension technically has the ability to read data on all of your sites, we only use it to help you as you do work in a limited set of tools. We don’t store any of your data, train AI models on anything, or sell any information for advertising. Our purpose as a business is to help you do better work by providing suggestions and educational material at timely moments while you’er working.

This is a common trade off faced by a lot of similar chrome extensions who have made a similar decision: Grammarly, Loom, and many others.

How is this different from ChatGPT / Bard / Claude / other tools?

The responses to your questions are all grounded in expertise from experts on Reforge. You can rely on the ideas, concepts, and suggestions to be of higher quality than the other tools, which are more broad and not trained on the best educational material in the tech industry.

The responses directly link to the Reforge material so you can drill into the underlying concepts and explanation.

Is a paid Reforge membership required to use this tool?

A paid membership is not required to use the extension today. When the tool links to paid Reforge material, a paid membership is required to view the material. We will be evaluating the usage patterns and limiting use after the beta period. Paid Reforge members will not be limited.

Why should I use this over ChatGPT / Bard / other tools?

We built this tool so it’s embedded in all the places you work. You can stay in the flow of work, and it has the context of who you are and what you’re working on.

Can I turn off access for members of my subscription?

Yes, please email hello@reforge.com if you don’t want paid members on your team subscription to be able to use the extension.
